ASCE has honored the writing team of Tung-Yu Wu, S.E., S.M.ASCE; Sherif El-Tawil, Ph.D., P.E., F.SEI, F.ASCE; and Jason McCormick, Ph.D., P.E., M.ASCE, with the 2019 Raymond C. Reese Research Prize for the paper “Heavy Ductile Limits for Deep Steel Columns,” published in the April 2018 issue of Journal of Structural Engineering.
The paper offers important contributions to the seismic design of deep steel columns.
Wu is a Ph.D. candidate at the University of Michigan. El-Tawil is professor in the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering, University of Michigan. McCormick is associate professor in the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering, University of Michigan.
The Raymond C. Reese Research Prize is awarded to the author or authors of a paper that describes a notable achievement in research related to structural engineering.
