Kuczera newest Ven Te Chow awardee

ASCE has honored George Kuczera, Ph.D., with the 2021 Ven Te Chow Award for exemplary mentoring and leadership, both in teaching and research, in hydrology and hydrologic and water resources engineering – particularly in hydrologic modeling by addressing model, parameter, and data error structures – and for leadership in the practicing hydrologic engineering profession.

Kuczera is known globally for his work on the theory and application of Bayesian statistical methods in hydrology and water resources. He has made significant contributions to flood-frequency analysis. The tools he developed have been extensively used by industry, especially in Australia. For example, the WATHNET5 model he developed has played a significant role in the management of Sydney’s water supply during an extended drought period. Because of his contributions to hydrology, Kuczera was awarded with Australia’s most prestigious honor for contributions in 1999 (G. N. Alexander Medal). He has a very strong publication record. His Google H-Index is 53. Kuckzera has also been a very strong mentor. He has graduated 28 Ph.D. students.
