Steinbrenner Earns ASCE Fellow Status

Janis A. Steinbrenner, P.E., F.ASCE, engineering manager for the City of Woodstock, GA, has been named a Fellow by the ASCE Board of Direction.

Steinbrenner is renowned for her thoroughness and follow-through during her 19 years in transportation design of roadway and streetscape projects at the local and state levels. In her current position since 2015, she supervises and reviews both road and stormwater endeavors and provides expert engineering reviews and opinions for the mayor, the City Council, and the Planning Commission. Recently Steinbrenner was named the Woodstock Local Administered Project (LAP) Manager to oversee all city projects using state or federal funds.

She became an expert in the Georgia Department of Transportation (GDOT) design guidelines and plan development while a project engineer at Qk4. While at Qk4, she was prominent in the company leadership program, called LEAD; she mentored co-op students and entry-level engineers while working on several award-winning projects throughout the state. In 2010, she was engaged by Southland Engineers as a transportation engineer, working closely with local officials and becoming an authority in local government engineering support.

Steinbrenner started as a Student Member in 1994 at the Georgia Institute of Technology, and has been an outstanding leader in the ASCE Georgia Section. She served on the Executive Committee of the Section Chapter of ASCE’s Transportation and Development Institute (T&DI). She was the also Section Younger Member Director after exemplary service as Hospitality Chair. She was recognized as the 2010 ASCE Georgia Section Young Civil Engineer of the Year, and in 2009 received the Section’s President’s Award for service to the organization.

Steinbrenner lives in Woodstock, where she is very active at the local elementary school supporting the STEM classes and the PTA.
