Brian Steglitz, P.E., F.ASCE, the manager of Water Treatment Services for the City of Ann Arbor, Michigan, has been elevated to Fellow status by the ASCE Board of Direction.
Steglitz has been employed by Ann Arbor for over 20 years and is responsible for operation of the City’s 50 MGD Water Treatment Plant, which serves approximately 125,000 people in the City of Ann Arbor and environs. He also oversees operation of the city’s two recreational dams and two hydroelectric generating facilities.
He is a former chair and director of the Michigan Section AWWA. He served as AWWA’s vice president in 2015-16, and is currently on the Board of Directors for the Water Research Foundation. Steglitz testified at a House of Representatives hearing on PFAS in May 2019, where he advocated for legislation that would provide resources to address these emerging contaminants that are a threat to drinking water supplies across the United States.
Steglitz received the Raymond J. Faust Award for outstanding service in the water supply field from the Michigan Section of AWWA, and he is also a recipient of the George Warren Fuller Award by AWWA, in recognition of distinguished service and outstanding leadership in the water supply field.
He has a B.A. in economics from Yale University and an M.S. in civil/environmental engineering from Stanford University.
