Green

Jared M. Green, P.E., D.GE, F.ASCE, a professional geotechnical engineer with Langan Engineering, in Philadelphia, has been named a fellow by the ASCE Board of Direction.

Green began working in the New York City office of Langan in 2003, and he became a principal / vice president of the firm. For the past three years he has operated out of the Philadelphia office and has become the geotechnical practice leader.

His experience ranges from initial subsurface explorations and schematic designs to construction phase oversight for complex projects throughout the New York Metropolitan Area, Upstate New York, New Jersey, Eastern Pennsylvania, and Delaware. He leads multidisciplinary projects that include geotechnical instrumentation monitoring; analysis, design, and construction inspection of foundation systems and retaining structures; evaluation of earth and rock slope stability; and preparation of geotechnical engineering reports. He is highly skilled at developing creative design solutions for performing excavation alongside historic structures and sensitive below-grade transit tunnels.

Green is a consultant and industry leader who enjoys mentoring young engineers and first-generation college students. He has been instrumental in increasing the number of precollege students who are interested in STEAM majors and fields. He strives to make complex engineering topics relatable and understandable to people new to the field and to people who are completely unfamiliar with engineering.

He also actively serves on several industry boards and committees throughout the industry, including the Board of Directors for the Salvadori Center, Board of Directors for the American Council of Engineering Companies–New York Metropolitan Board, the AIA Philadelphia Historic Preservation Committee, ASCE’s Geo-Institute, and the Deep Foundations Institute (DFI). Green was formerly chair of the ASCE Metropolitan Section and was on the Planning Committee for GeoCongress 2019. He is the host of the Engineering Management Institute’s Geotechnical Engineering Podcast.

Green has received the following acknowledgements and awards:

  • Crain’s New York Business – Notable Black Leaders & Executives.
  • Building Design + Construction magazine – BD+C 40 Under 40.
  • ENR New York – Top 20 Under 40.
  • GlobeSt. Real Estate Forum – 50 under 40.

Green is a very active member of DFI. He serves on the Micropile Technical Committee and has been on the planning committee for NJ DFI Trust / ACE Mentorship Annual Golf Outing in New Jersey for the last several years.

He graduated from Syracuse University’s College of Engineering in 2001 with a bachelor’s degree in civil engineering and later attained his master’s degree in civil engineering (geotechnical focus) from the University of Illinois at Urbana–Campaign in 2002. He is a licensed professional engineer in 12 states.
