Bradford Russell, P.E., F.SEI, F.ASCE, an architect, structural engineer, and the director of BR Architects & Engineers in the Dallas/Fort Worth area, has been named a Fellow by the ASCE Board of Direction.
Russell, after spacing his engineering education with experience at some of the most prominent architectural and engineering firms in Dallas, began studies in the subject of force mitigation of extreme events on structures, developing some ideas into patents called the Load Bearing Structural Assembly, also known as ForceGenie, on which he has spoken numerous times in the United States and throughout the world.
He has been involved with ASCE and served in a number of positions, including co-chair and chair of SEI, and Dallas Board Technical Director. He has also served in leadership positions for other professional organizations. Russell submitted for the 2019 ASCE Innovation Contest and was awarded topic winner (General Civil Infrastructure Improvement) for the ForceGenie. As well, he was awarded Best Entrepreneur Award for the ForceGenie business model.
In the late 1990s, he started Bradford Russell Architects, which has evolved into BR Architects Inc., dba BR Architects & Engineers (BRAE), and is proficient in a wide variety of project types. Under Russell’s guidance, BRAE participates regularly in the Professional Internship Program with Richardson ISD High School students who aspire to go to college for studies in architecture and/or engineering.
Russell graduated from Texas Tech University with a dual degree in civil engineering and architecture. He received a master’s in Civil Engineering–Structures Option from the University of Texas at Arlington before commencing Ph.D. study. He currently holds professional licenses in both the engineering and the architectural fields, and was one of the first LEED-Accredited Professionals in the U.S. and Texas.
