ASCE has honored Stephen J. Ressler, Ph.D., P.E., Dist.M.ASCE, with the 2019 ASCE Presidents’ Award in recognition of his 34 years as a commissioned officer in the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers and his extensive engagement in engineering education at the U.S. Military Academy and Lehigh University, and as principal instructor for ASCE’s ExCEEd Teaching Workshop.
Ressler is renowned for educating students and educators alike. A recipient of several ASCE awards, he was elected to Distinguished Membership in 2005. He currently serves on two of the Society’s national-level committees and as one of its representatives to the Board of Delegates of the Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology.
The ASCE Presidents’ Award commemorates the nation’s first president, who was a civil engineer and land surveyor. The award recognizes an ASCE’s member’s distinguished service to his or her country.
