Roy Francis Kim Jr., P.E., F.ASCE, a nuclear engineer with more than 50 years of successful practice in both corporate and private practice engineering endeavors, has been named a Fellow by the ASCE Board of Direction.
Kim’s corporate career has involved the structural and mechanical design of nuclear reactor core support structures, steam generators, nuclear power plant major component supports, and the management of major projects involving reanalysis and relicensing of nuclear power plants.
He is also the founding partner of an existing engineering company that he subsequently transferred to his son. Kim himself currently conducts a private engineering consulting practice. In this private practice he provides the structural design, analysis, and evaluation of residential and small commercial buildings and associated structural-related features, as well as forensic engineering services including technical advisory and expert witness services in support of legal and other matters.
Kim is grateful that his engineering career continues to enable him to enjoy continued personal and professional development, the process of developing unique solutions to home- and property-owner problem situations, and the provision of mentoring and coaching assistance to students and other engineers and professionals.
He earned engineering and MBA degrees from the University of Pittsburgh, a professional engineer’s license in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania, and an international Project Management Professional certification from the Project Management Institute.
