ASCE Plot Points Season 3 Episode 4: Money Talks (Part 2)

Planning for retirement is a crucial component to any personal finance strategy.

But it’s not easy. When do you start? How much money is enough?

Nicolai Oliden, in the second part of a two-part podcast series, helps answer those questions (1:06).

Then in Origin Stories, we meet ASCE Virginia Section Past-President Daren Williams and hear how his father and the Navy helped shape his career, from nine years of service to the City of Virginia Beach to a master’s degree from Old Dominion University to working for the Virginia Department of Transportation (11:49).

And we get more retirement financial advice from civil engineers in Member Memos (15:25).

  1. I appreciate these 2 episodes very much and I think they were spot on. I’m 50 now and have been investing since I started my career in the early 90’s, using the plans and strategies talked about in the podcasts. They work. I now have 2 daughters in college and have been teaching them these same principles throughout high school (even made them take Dave Ramsey’s Financial Peace University). It is so important to start early and it makes it so much easier down the road. Thanks for helping out the next generation!
