ASCE Names Wong a Fellow

Bryant W. C. Wong, P.E., ENV SP, F.ASCE, a civil engineer specializing in environmental engineering, has been named a Fellow by the ASCE Board of Direction.

Wong is currently a senior consultant with Polytechnique Environmental in Orange County, CA. He previously worked many years for CH2M HILL, and before that for Brown and Caldwell. In his nearly 40 years of consulting engineering, he has contributed to a wide range of environmental engineering projects involving hazardous waste engineering, water/wastewater engineering, environmental compliance, solid waste planning, project management, operations management, and program management. In particular, his career has focused on managing hazardous waste engineering programs/projects for federal (including Navy) and industrial clients.

His most significant engineering career achievements are related to leadership roles and responsibilities he assumed at CH2M HILL. These leadership roles include serving as a Navy program operations manager; a geographical environmental services operations manager for southern California, southern Nevada, and Arizona; a project delivery leader; and a Navy client service manager.

Wong has been active in ASCE since joining in 1976 as a student member. He has served in various roles with the Los Angeles Section, among them Section newsletter editor, Associate Member Forum president, Section secretary, and currently as part of the Section’s Orange County Branch mentorship program. He has also been the recipient of several ASCE awards, such as the 1982 Daniel W. Mead Prize for Associate Members, 1987 Edmund Friedman Young Engineer for Professional Achievement, and most recently the 2018 Orange County Branch Mentor of the Year.

He has authored, published, and presented numerous technical papers and articles.

Wong graduated with a B.S. civil engineering degree (with high honors) from the University of Hawaii in 1978 and earned his M.S. environmental engineering degree from the University of Illinois in 1980.
