ASCE Members Make Engineers Week 2020 Special

Every year in February, Engineers Week recognizes the amazing contributions made by engineers around the world.

It’s a great chance for ASCE members to take a step back, take stock of their work and then take a bow.

The funny thing about ASCE members, though, is that Engineers Week – the week set aside to honor them – often finds them working harder than ever, doing things for others, hosting outreach events, giving back to the community.

Never taking, always giving.

Here are some highlights from Engineers Week 2020:

Yesterday, a very softly spoken adorable female middle school student said “I want to be an engineer to design new medical devices that help people with tumors.”⁣ ⁣ Wow.⁣ ⁣ With each event these young minds surprise me, amaze me and remind me that showing each and every one of them that they are capable of anything is the most important mission we can have. Each of them bring different backgrounds, experiences, and motivations that will drive them towards changing the world.⁣ ⁣ Thank you to yesterday’s volunteers @ani_sark, @aquaneer, our amazing chair @meghrie_d and many others for helping make this event happen. I hope we continue to inspire the next generation as much as they inspire us ?
