Michelle E. Madzelan, P.E., F.ASCE, a transportation engineer with more than 20 years of transportation, traffic, and civil engineering experience, has been named a Fellow by the ASCE Board of Direction.
Madzelan currently serves as a senior transportation manager for ELA Group Inc., in Lititz, PA, focusing on traffic engineering for land development and municipal projects. Her career path has evolved from engineering design to project management and construction for a variety of projects, including traffic analysis, local roadway design, roundabouts, stormwater conveyance, water distribution, sanitary sewer collection systems, heliports, airports, and bridges. Her expertise finds its focus in outstanding project design, management, and quality control on infrastructure projects of small or large scale throughout the area.
Starting as a student member in ASCE, Madzelan has been actively involved in ASCE. In 2005, she became an active Central Pennsylvania Section Board member, serving in several officer positions, one of which was the Central Pennsylvania Section President (2013). Nationally, she serves on the National Convention Technical Planning Subcommittee.
She is presently the Central Pennsylvania Engineers Week Council representative, having been its past chair and remaining the Executive Board co-chair of the Council of Transportation Technical Group as well as York College Practitioner Advisor. She also serves as chapter liaison for the Central Pennsylvania Chapter of Women’s Transportation Seminar.
Madzelan was the recipient of the John H. McCormick Educational Outreach Award, which recognized her significant efforts and contributions to educating students in science, technology, engineering, and math.
She earned a bachelor degree in civil engineering from the University of Dayton. She is a licensed professional engineer since 2004, registered in four states.
